On Monday, 9 June 2008, mountaineer Eduard Burceag, 31, died that another may live. Trapped by an unexpected turn of weather on Mount Rainier, Eduard froze to death to provide insulation from the cold to his two companions, one of which was his wife.
I did not know Eduard at all. I never met the man. But I know his spirit, I know his soul, and he has my utmost respect.
May his adventures continue in the land beyond our own.
